Greetings!! It has been a while...
This post had been in draft for too long, because I didn't have the motivation to finish it due to no internet at home and I still don't have internet at my home, but since I'm in a cafe with wifi I thought, I should not longer delay this post any further and soo.. here it is!
Today I'll be reviewing FromJapan Proxy Service. What's a proxy service you ask? Well, a lot of Japanese online stores don't ship out of Japan but there's another way to get the things you want! All you have to do is to use a proxy service; downside of it? You've to spend a little more money since it's not free, like, you'd wish it is.
At one point, I was going to try their shopping service but then I decided to do it myself—Since I could save some money by ordering it myself. It's actually not that hard, use Google Translate and get a Japanese address by signing up with a Japan SS that offers forwarding service. I used their auction service and since it was my first time, I had troubles with it; even made a mistake because I was too lazy read the first timer guide.
It's not really that hard to navigate around the site, just find an item you like on YJA!, Mbok, or any other auction sites; copy the link and enter it in the Bid/ Order bar.
The only sites that FromJapan provide real-time bidding system are YJA!, Amazon JP, カラメル, Zozo Town and Seven Net. Once you enter the link, you'll be brought to the Product Details page with all the information of the item. Before placing a bid, you must place a deposit in order to be able to bid. Which can be troublesome since you never know how much you'll be going to use. Always go for a few hundreds yen higher since there's a 200 service fee for per bidding. To place a deposit, go to "My Account" and at the top of the page, you'll see your deposit and points balance. From there, click the "Place a Deposit" button and enter the amount of deposit you'd like to have in your FJ account
Once you win an auction bid, an email message will be sent to you shortly. You'll also receive email message from FJ when someone outbids you, to keep you up to date with the item you're auctioning. To 100% win an auction item is to refresh the page again and again until the very last minute to be sure that you're not being outbid. Oh, and one important thing is that when you place a bid, for the domestic shipping method, always go for the cheaper option instead of the secure unless the item is really valuable because I made the mistake of using secure shipping for a 2 piece of dresses and I ended up paying (¥1000+ shipping fee for each dress). When you've got everything you want, go to Charge 1; item price + ¥200 commission fee + 5% system fee, to pay for your items.
After paying for Charge 1, the next step is the Shipping Instruction, there are plenty of shipping methods for you to choose from. For me, surprisingly, FedEx is cheaper (I've read a bunch of comments in MFC and people said that EMS is usually cheaper than FedEx, which in my case is the opposite, I guess FedEx is cheaper for those who live in Asia Pacific?) and yes, the possibility of getting taxed using FedEx is a 100% as they have their own custom, so if the total cost of the item(s) exceeds, (which varies in every different country) for me, it's RM500 with shipping cost and insurance included—which is ridiculously low. I did get taxed because my shipment value is above RM500, there's a way to avoid tax, which is to mark down the declared value of the item(s) yourself, but if the parcel is lost, damaged or stolen, you'll only be insured up to the amount you've declared.
It takes a day or two until Charge 2; shipping fees (domestic & international) + 5% system fee + other services fee (optional), to be done. Important! Do pay charge 2 within 3 days once it's ready or you'll be charged for late payment penalty. The last step is to wait patiently for the parcel to arrive at your doorstep.
PROS:
- Easy to use
- Good website navigation
- Efficient customer service
- Cheap commission fee; ¥200
- Variety of shipping methods
- Allows you to get anything on the auction site
CONS:
- Holds no responsible for fraud
- Once bid is placed, no cancellation unless you pay ¥2000 for it
- Pricey, system usage fee and bank transfer fee is charged twice for Charge 1 & 2
RATING:
Will I be using FromJapan auction service again? Maybe, it's not that I'm unhappy with their service, as a matter of fact, I'm very happy with it but because of the cost, it's low but with this and that being added up, the service does cost quite a lot. I don't think I'll use them again unless I've found something that I really want from the auction sites.
Thanks for reading & have a nice day!!
I found out about Yahoo Auctions! from FromJapan, and after browsing on there for a while, I decided to get a few things from there. The first item I got is a Liz Lisa brown plaid OP, and why is it that I don't have a picture of it? Well, long story short, I made a mistake with paying it using PayPal and ended up having to send it the address that's used on my PayPal account, which is why I don't have it with me right now.

I found it funny that I actually decided to bid for this preloved dress because I'm not a fan of getting used clothing but this dress is really cute and cheap so I decided to get it. There's a small stain on the zipper, but since it's on the inside of the dress, nobody will see it. After trying on the dress, it didn't look like how I'd imagined it to be. I'm thinking of taking it to a seamstress to get rid of the sleeves as I think it'd look better without it.

When I first bid for these shoes, I had no idea it's from Yumetenbo. I got these for around the original price with all the shipping and other fees added to it. I was praying while I was trying on these shoes, hoping it would fit, and it did! But it's quite tight for me and when I tried to walk on it, it really does hurt my feet... I really love these shoes, but I guess I've to sell it off since there's no point in keeping shoes that don't fit. To anyone who's interested in buying these shoes from me, please go to my store.
Last but not least, a Liz Lisa fukubukuro!! Contents only. I've no idea which year this fukubukuro is from, but according to the seller, it's from several years ago; tried searching for it, but still can't find which fukubukuro it is from. There are 10 items in total—all new with tags on it—one scrunchy, one blanket, one dress, one coat, two tops, two bottoms, and a set of sleepwear. I decided to bid for it cause of the coat; the others, I've not much of a clue of what it was as the photos don't provide a full view of the items except the coat. I'm happy with all the things that I've got but because of the weather here, I've decided to sell some of those warmer pieces off. And the blanket afsghawekcxkmlka!! It's so pretty!!
I'm currently working on a beginner's guide to YJA! Once it's done. I'll be posting the link up here. Also, I'll be getting package from TKL soon!! It's currently on its way to the post office near my place. I'll probably just go pick up the package myself once it reaches!!
This post was supposed to be posted a month ago, but because I was busy moving to a new place that's why the post got delayed. Moving can be very tiring and stressing, especially when it was done in the very last minute! Anyways, I'm just glad I wouldn't have to move again, not till another year...
In my previous post, I said that I don't trust Tenso Japan service, but because of the current opening campaign they are having right now, no extra fees in any of the services and on top of that, a 5% discount on EMS shipping! How can anyone say no to that?! And since it has merged with Tenso (One of the best forwarding services) I decided to give it a try by ordering a few items from Amazon JP and a piece of clothing from Tokyo Kawaii Life.
TIMELINE:
7 Dec 15 - Placed an order on TKL
8 Dec 15 - Placed an order on Amazon JP
9 Dec 15 - Order from TKL arrived at TJ's warehouse
10 Dec 15 - Order from Amazon JP arrived at TJ's warehouse
11 Dec 15 - Received notifications about my order from TKL & Amazon JP
12 Dec 15 - Applied for combining service
15 Dec 15 - Received notification about completion of combining
17 Dec 15 - Paid and received notification of payment
18 Dec 15 - Package got shipped
22 Dec 15 - Package arrived, went to the post office to get the package myself
When the packages had been delivered to TJ's warehouse, I was expecting to be notified by them since it's stated on their site that they'll notify and give the shipping quote to the customer on the same day the package is received by them but I received no notifications for both of my packages, so I panicked. Sent them an enquiry about my packages on 10th of Dec; 2 PM, and at 4:50 PM, I got a reply from them telling me to give the details of my packages. I replied immediately, but it was already 5:10 PM and since Japan is an hour ahead, it was already 6:10 PM. I have to wait till the next day since their working hour is from 10am to 5pm, and I was told that they were still processing parcels that were received on the 9th of Dec. Few hours later, on the very same day, I finally received notifications for my orders.
On 12th of Dec, I applied for my packages to be combined, and after that, I sent them an email requesting for one of my items to be wrapped with bubble wrap but was told that they were unable to accept my request as my packages were at the other warehouse, where combining is being applied to. They told me to send them an email along with the order no. My packages were combined together on the 15th, yet I received no reply from them so I sent them another email on the 17th, the same day which I paid for my package and was told that they can no longer accept any wrapping request once payment is done because by adding more wrapping, the weight of the package will increase.
At this point, I was like WTF? Because I only wanted to get a 3DS protector case to be wrapped, and I'm sure it wouldn't weigh more than 20g, but I do understand that if everyone does that it would be troublesome for them, so it's understandable why they didn't accept my request but what I couldn't accept is that in the email they told me to kindly accept any damages if the item arrived broken, which it didn't, thank god.
Unfortunately, something went wrong with my camera and the photos I've taken of the package when it first arrived is gone... It came in a huge white envelope, and they used the box from my order on Amazon JP. It's just normal packing, everything got thrown together and a few pieces of recycled paper was placed on top of the items.
Rating:
Will I be using them again? Yes, since their service fees are cheaper than the other forwarding companies; I'll probably only use Tenso Japan when there's a promotion going on, if not, I don't think I'll be using them that much. I definitely do recommend them if you're in no rush to get your package, if not, no because they can be a bit slow, especially when there's a promotional campaign going on, it gets even slower.
I recently just placed an order on TKL, and I'll be using their service again. If there is any change of my opinion on Tenso Japan, I'll just update this post instead of posting a new one, so do check this post out once in a while as I'll update it from time to time.
Thank You So Much For Reading!!
